The only benefit of the doubt I can give is that maybe he's just a moron that accidentally figured something out. As someone who believes in actual spirituality I think people should stay the heck away from people like him, because there's way too much snakey shit in that whole ruse seemingly designed to take advantage of gullible people. If he's motivated to lie about things to fake his credibility, what intentions does he have? He's just another guy talking out of his ass to make a buck and tarnishing what otherwise would be a good thing. Maybe his specific techniques are useful for something, but in that case he should just be honest about it and say he doesn't know the physics, biology, or spirituality of it, but that he knows it helps people. The placebo is a proven effect, and meditation is known to be a useful tool. Hypotheticals are a lot of fun, but presenting extremely conjectural ideas as facts to people is lying. I don't really have a problem with people making grandiose claims and saying it's just a theory/idea they came up with.

I read his placebo book, and while he cites some real studies, a lot of his "scientific" explanations are bs with no actual evidence. Meditation Pics - for meditation-related images.
